Measurement rig
Calibrated microphone, laptop analyser and a two-channel oscilloscope for setting amplifier gains against a clipping point rather than by ear.
About Bassmere Audio
No showroom, no commission targets, no sales floor. Just a workshop off Marlow Bank Road where cars come in for car speakers, subwoofers, amplifiers and the unglamorous damping work that makes all three sound like they cost more than they did.
Bassmere Audio started in 2016 in a single rented unit with one ramp, a bench and a borrowed measurement microphone. The founder had spent eleven years in vehicle electrical work and kept meeting the same problem: customers had spent real money on car audio and were still unhappy, because nobody had checked what the car was doing to the sound.
The fix was not exotic. Measure the cabin, treat the doors, mount the drivers properly and set the amplifier with an instrument rather than a thumb. Nine years later the process is the same, there are two ramps instead of one, and roughly half our work comes from customers sending someone else in.
The bay
Car audio work is mostly trim removal, wiring and measurement. The kit list reflects that rather than the wall of boxes people expect.
Calibrated microphone, laptop analyser and a two-channel oscilloscope for setting amplifier gains against a clipping point rather than by ear.
MDF and birch ply stock, a router table and a circle jig, so adaptor rings and enclosures are cut to the vehicle instead of shimmed with washers.
Nylon removal tools, a full clip stock for the platforms we see most, and a habit of replacing every clip we break rather than refitting a loose panel.
Oxygen-free cable in four gauges, ANL and mini-ANL fusing, ISO and CAN adaptors, plus the crimps and shrink to finish a joint properly.
People
Founder & lead installer
Eleven years in vehicle electrical work before opening the bay. Does the measurement, the tuning and most of the awkward dashboard jobs.
Installer & fabrication
Runs the bench. Cuts every adaptor ring and enclosure, and rebuilt our boot-floor template library for the estates we see most often.
Bookings & aftercare
Answers the phone, keeps the diary honest about bay time, and handles the fourteen-day return visits when someone wants the bass nudged up or down.
Straight answers
Covers our workmanship: wiring, mounting, damping and tuning. Hardware carries whatever warranty the manufacturer offers, and we handle the claim for you.
Parts, labour and bay time itemised. If something unexpected turns up behind the trim we stop and ring you rather than adding it to the bill.
Factory speakers, brackets and trim clips are bagged, labelled and returned unless you ask us to recycle them.
Saturday mornings are usually quiet. Bring the car, have a listen to a demo door panel and ask whatever you like about the process.
