Privacy statement
We are a small workshop and we hold as little personal data as we can get away with. This statement explains what we do collect, why, how long we keep it and what you can ask us to do with it.
1. Who is responsible for your data
Bassmere Audio is the data controller for personal data described in this statement. Our contact details are:
Bassmere Audio
Unit 12, Kestrel Yard, Marlow Bank Road
Sheffield S9 3HL
United Kingdom
Telephone: 0114 496 0182
Email: hello@brandonwebb.com
We process personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.
2. What this website collects
This is a static website. It has no user accounts, no analytics scripts, no advertising pixels and no third-party trackers. Specifically:
- The enquiry form does not send anything to us automatically. It uses the browser's own GET method, which places what you typed into the address bar of the confirmation page so you can check it. Nothing is written to a database on this site.
- Our web server keeps standard access logs containing IP address, timestamp, the page requested, the referring page and browser user agent. These are used for security and to diagnose faults, and are deleted after 30 days.
- One item of local storage records whether you dismissed the cookie notice. See our cookie policy.
3. Data you give us directly
When you email, telephone or book work with us, we collect what you choose to tell us: your name, contact details, vehicle details (including registration), and notes about the work. If you become a customer we also hold the job sheet, the quotation, the invoice and any measurements taken.
4. Why we process it, and our lawful basis
| Purpose | Data used | Lawful basis |
|---|---|---|
| Replying to an enquiry | Name, contact details, vehicle, message | Legitimate interests — responding to someone who contacted us |
| Quoting and carrying out work | Contact details, vehicle, job sheet, measurements | Performance of a contract |
| Warranty and aftercare | Job records, parts fitted, dates | Performance of a contract and legal obligation |
| Accounting and tax | Invoices and payment records | Legal obligation |
| Website security and fault finding | Server access logs | Legitimate interests — keeping the site available and secure |
We do not send marketing emails and we do not build customer profiles. If we ever start a newsletter it will be opt-in only, with an unsubscribe link in every message, as required by the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations.
5. How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not become work: deleted after 12 months.
- Job records and measurements: kept for the duration of the fitting warranty plus one year, so a total of three years.
- Invoices and accounting records: six years, as required by HMRC.
- Server access logs: 30 days.
6. Who we share it with
We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for marketing. We share the minimum necessary with:
- Our accountant, for bookkeeping and tax returns.
- Equipment manufacturers or their UK distributors, where a warranty claim requires it.
- Our email and hosting providers, who process data on our instructions under a written contract.
- Law enforcement or a regulator, where we are legally obliged to do so.
Our hosting and email providers may process data outside the UK. Where that happens we rely on UK adequacy regulations or the International Data Transfer Addendum to keep the protection equivalent.
7. Your rights
Under the UK GDPR you have the right to:
- ask what personal data we hold about you, and get a copy;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- ask us to delete data, where we have no continuing legal reason to keep it;
- ask us to restrict processing while a concern is investigated;
- object to processing carried out on the basis of legitimate interests;
- receive data you gave us in a portable format;
- withdraw consent at any time, where consent was the basis for processing.
To exercise any of these, email hello@brandonwebb.com. We will respond within one month, and there is no charge for a reasonable request.
8. Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the UK regulator:
Information Commissioner's Office, Wycliffe House, Water Lane, Wilmslow, Cheshire SK9 5AF. Helpline 0303 123 1113. Website: ico.org.uk.
9. Children
This site is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect data about anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes
If this statement changes we will update the date at the top of the page. Material changes affecting existing customers will also be notified by email.
